DHS spends millions of dollars every year on this same cellphone location data for domestic surveillance, law enforcement, customs, immigration, and border crossings.
So why is Bill Barr, along with never-Trumpers, saying that 2000 Mules is based on faulty geo-tracking technology?
The Department of Homeland Security has used the information to detect undocumented immigrants and others who may be entering the U.S. unlawfully, according to these people and documents.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a division of DHS, has used the data to help identify immigrants who were later arrested, these people said. U.S. Customs and Border Protection, another agency under DHS, uses the information to look for cellphone activity in unusual places, such as remote stretches of desert that straddle the Mexican border, the people said.
The Department of Homeland Security is purchasing consumer cellphone data that allows authorities to track immigrants trying to cross the southern border, which privacy advocates say could lead to a vast “surveillance partnership” between the government and private corporations.
As further proof, I recently watched a DVRed episode of Dateline NBC. The episode aired on 4.15.22, and was subtitled "The Real Thing About Pam". The story is about Pam Hubb and her merder victims, one of which was Louis Gumpenberger in 2016.
Police used Google to track her phone's history.
Detective: "I can see when she left her house, I can see everywhere she went.. theres a pin right in his apartment complex"
Keith Morrison (Dateline): "There's your proof!"
Detective: "..If Google said she was there, and there was a camera, she was there"
THIS case was in 2016, and Hubb was arrested within a week of this data!
....in 2016!!!!
